| “Kids are funny. These boys learned Benjamin Franklin discovered electricity flying a kite in a lightning storm. Well now, it worked for old Ben, but lighthouse keeper Thaddeus Throckmorton got all worked up when these scalawags flew their confounded kites too close to his light. If you want to know the truth, Thaddeus nodded off. When he woke up that big black and white kite was right beside his window. Mistaking it for a runaway freighter, he bellowed, “Man the lifeboats!” He tongue-lashed those boys good and proper. But there’s some in these parts say Thaddeus ain’t been right in the head since the Maine got sunk of Narragansett Bay. Or was that down in Havana?” (Published by Scott Arts Graphics) |
