| THE GULLS OF MAINE |
 |
|
| “Seagulls, a ubiquitous breed, might be the restless souls of ancient mariners. They crowd the air over every port and inlet of the seven seas, wheeling and mewing in cacophonic insurrection. They bob on waves like whitecaps, quarreling in disputations over morsels from passing fishing boats. They dive hungrily with disconcerting bravery into schools of small fish. This brigade of gulls spangles the skies over a small Maine cove on a summer's day. Though beautiful and graceful on the wing, they shatter the stillness with endless accusations. Much as they are among us, gulls are a mystery, too. We never see them after sundown. Where do they go? Where to they sleep, these noisy busybodies of the skies?” (Published by Scott Arts Graphics) |
